Why join The American Legion?

We offer three types of membership–General, Auxiliary, Sons of American Legion–to include as many members of military families as possible.

If you have served federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces for at least one day since December 7, 1941, and have been honorably discharged or are still serving , you are eligible for membership in The American Legion!

  • Membership dues are $45 annually.
  • Complete a membership application, which you can request at colonal454@gmail.com or pick up from the post during open hours.
  • Provide a copy of your DD214 or, if you are active duty, a copy of your current assignment orders.
  • Note: if you join online, you will not be automatically placed in our post but in an at-large post based on your mailing address.
  • If you are already a member of an at-large post (in Michigan, post 225) and wish to transfer to Snyder-Lewis-Welty Post 454, just send us an email and request a transfer form.
